In 1st grade, students are working on becoming lifelong readers that will help the kiddos not only with reading, but throughout their academic career. Helping students understand the fundamental aspects of literacy, including phonics, phonological awareness, syntax and writing. The materials chosen will help significantly in the development of these aspects and will go a long way. Reading is foundational! For students to achieve higher academic levels, they must be taught the basics while developing a love for reading. Working headphones are essential for online instruction within phonics and phonemic awareness. From the phonics flip books to the magnetic sorting tiles, my students will be able to enjoy their journey to learning to read.
