All of these items will be helpful for my students to succeed in the classroom. I teach in a Title One school, so many of the kids come from a lower-income upbringing. As a sixth year teacher, I see year after year how just simple materials such as a pencil sharpener, tissues and glue sticks are of constant need. This year more than ever, we have gone through so many materials in hopes to accommodate each student so that less sharing is required, so less germs are being spread. Materials like that may seem small to some, but it adds up and becomes a large expense for teachers.
Furthermore, I am asking for half a class set of headphones. Thankfully our district has supplied our students with iPads, but there are no headphones to go along with them. When students are working in centers, independently reading, listening to audio books, or have enrichment time, the noise level of a group of kids on iPads can become distracting and overwhelming. Students lose their focus and cannot tune in to their own screen and their own differentiated learning. Getting 10 headphones into my classroom will help students remain focused on their learning and be more accountable and independent.
Anything helps and is so very much appreciated!
