In order to help students fully communicate in Spanish I strive to teach in an authentic and fun way. Spanish books and games are two methods that have worked wonders in my classroom. When playing games my students play in Spanish so they practice communicating in the target language. This allows them to have fun and learn at the same time. Studies have shown that students learn more and maintain more of what they learn while having fun. Students also learn how to interact better with peers by playing games. Spanish books also allow students to learn the language authentically. They learn more about the culture and world. While reading they push themselves to understand more of the language. My students are also developing a love for literature. These fun lessons are a breath of fresh air for many student who have lost interest for learning during the pandemic. The fun and authentic lessons will bring back a thirst for learning. Comfortable seating allows students to put themselves in a situation where they learn best. Many students don't have many opportunities to choose their environment. By allowing alternate forms of seating such as comfy floor seats and wobble cushions, students feel empowered in making decisions. When students are given opportunities to make decisions they will improve in their decision making skills. The resources on Teachers Pay Teachers are creative, fun and authentic lessons that are great for distance learning. Students have a hard time learning virtually because it's not as effective or fun as in person learning. The lessons on TPT help solve these problems. Lessons on this site include readings, virtual games, learning through music and other authentic resources. Since these lessons are more effective and fun my students will learn more. Also they'll find more joy in their learning when they learn from home.
