Flexible seating is a common trend in elementary and middle schools. Students need to be able to move while learning. Why do we expect that to change when they enter high school?! My students love using yoga balls in the classroom! We currently have three which were donated by a local dance company. Students fight over who gets to use them! They really help my students concentrate, particularly the ones who are more tired in the mornings. They can't fall asleep at their desk while sitting on a yoga ball. We regularly do small groups and rotate around the room. Having only three yoga balls and a 30-year old class set of dry erase boards, does not make these easy. Students can't use the yoga balls for those lessons. The dry erase boards don't erase much anymore.
