Increasing my classroom library with easy reader high interest low reading books is important for me so my students can select and check out books and provide opportunities to practice newly acquired reading skills. Learning to read is fun and can open you up to the world. Practicing comprehension skills is an equally important skill in developing life-long learners. These comprehension quickies are a great way for my students to have daily exposure to fiction and nonfiction text and answer explicit and inferential comprehension questions. Hands on learning is critical to a child's learning which many of my students were not exposed to in previous years due in part to COVID and school being taught virtually. These math manipulatives will support students in developing stronger foundations with number sense, understanding quantity relationships, time and money. Careful instruction planning for students with disabilities often includes modifying the instructional time as well as providing sensory breaks. Computers and iPads are great but I am excited to provide my students with hands on items that will be reinforcing as well as meeting their sensory needs. These items can be something a student can play with for a couple minutes after working for a set length of time or after meeting specific behavioral requirements.
