I have a student who has kyphosis (curvature of the spine) and he needs to stand while he works so the standing desk will help his task stamina and help him be in less pain. I do not have a working pencil sharpener in my room and students always have to go down the hall to get their pencils sharpened (which they have to use for math). Having this pencil sharpener will save time on searching for a teacher who isn't busy and will let them borrow their pencil sharpener. Students often ask for snacks to keep energy up. Having snacks in the classroom is a helpful way for students to feel comfortable in the classroom. The printer will not only be great for me and my IEP meetings, but students will be able to print right in my classroom which will save time on assignments and provide them the opportunity to have paper copies instead of online copies, as paper copies are much easier for many of them to complete. A daily schedule is posted and magnets will help those stay up on the board so it is clearly posted in the classroom. Having this visible schedule helps them know what is going on that day and what is expected of them. Lastly, the microwave and fridge would help students who eat lunch in my room (which is sometimes up to 10 students) be able to keep their lunch in here or heat up their lunch, especially if they brought it from home. Students often want to keep their drinks in my room. Having these appliances on hand will allows them to leave their lunches and not have to carry them around all day.
