The technology requested will provide hands-on learning opportunities for my students. Current theater trends in production have shifted from finding items and props used in shows to creating as many as possible. One of the things that has majorly changed in the last ten years is the use of CNC machines in shops and 3D printing in props and set production. By learning how to use 3D printed material students will get a hands-on look at how props production works through theater and give them individualized hands-on items that they got to design, paint, and finish. With Covid-19 we have had a major issue finding suitable props for students and trying to keep down the use of multiple props with multiple students. If we were able to 3D print props cheaply, we can make more things for more students to use without the threat of contamination between students. The Cricut technology is used to create customized imagery on t-shirts and other things. Having characters wearing custom clothing allows students to really get into the ideas and processes behind character development and then express those ideas through costume choices by creating customized costuming. The same applies to mugs and other sublimation articles where characters can have things that are individualized to show an understanding of the character by the design student.
