I plan to have my students use these items to learn different ways to cook foods and preserve food. As a middle schooler, many students are not allowed to use the stove. I plan to cook more things in the waffle makers than just waffles. This will open up their chances of cooking at home. As they are creating a complete breakfast meal, or learning to measure by making waffle cookies, or other food items, they will expand their minds and cooking opportunities. I plan to use the food dehydrators for my students as we talk about the nutrient, protein. This will give my students an opportunity to not just learn how to cook beef, but also give them an option of drying and preserving it. I also would use it when we talk about other nutrients, vitamins and mineral. I will dehydrate fruits as an option to add more fruits in their diet each day, and a healthy snack.
