These resources will help my students be more mindful and comfortable in my classroom, as well as making it a more engaging and exciting environment for learning. Over the past few years, I have seen the emotions of living during the COVID-19 pandemic causing lack in student knowledge, self-love, and mindfulness. These social emotional skills are critical for high school, college, and the work force. I would like to create a "calm corner" where students can go if they are stressed out. It will have an essential oil diffuser with calming scents, fidget toys, calming coloring books, and more. Children need to feel comfortable and excited to come into their classrooms in order to help facilitate better learning, and compassion throughout their lives. By gamifying learning through room transformations and games that help teach curriculum, students will be more excited to come to school and more intrigued and eager to learn. It also helps the retention rate tremendously. I want some games that can be used for many educational situations, but also items needed for a Glow Games room transformation to review key concepts. Finally, feeling comfortable in your seat is critical to effective learning. Flexible seating is a wonderful way to help students learn in the best environment for them. Some students feel more comfortable learning when standing, so I have selected a few standing desks that are mobile in order for students to move around the room and collaborate. I also selected bean bag chairs and tall stools. My main purpose for these resources is to help my students feel more comfortable and confident in my classroom and really want to come to school to learn during this trying time. Thank you for your support for these kids.
