Building My Students' Reading Skills

Thank you so much for investing on building the love for reading and the future of our great nation. Since we received the books selected, the students have been learning new sight words, and have been putting them into practice. They have seemed more engaged and eager to share what they've been learning.
It was encouraging to see some of our students who were having a little bit more difficulty begin to excel, as their reading selections diversified. Now, the reading in my classroom, incorporates a broader selection of material for the students to choose from.”

Most of my students are English Language Learners who are learning and building a new vocabulary. To help my students build their confidence in their reading and writing, I chose the following resources: books, writing journals and learning sight words. I am confident that these materials which include the learning of sight words, books and journals will help their language arts growth. Most of these are books in which they can identify themselves, sparking an interest in reading. The writing journals will help them become more independent and creative with their writing.
