Due to going online in 2020 and continued sporadic individual and family quarantines since, students have had a hard developing and maintaining good classroom behavior. This year I have noticed how difficult it has been for my 7th and 8th graders to focus on their work, raise their hand to comment in class or stay in their seats for more than 5 minutes. Based on the Harry Potter books, I have started a classroom store to help reinforce the good behaviors I see. Students earn sickles (wizard money) as they follow directions and procedures, for example, working on their bell ringer as soon as they come into class. They can also earn sickles by helping set up or clean up labs, or just for doing their work when asked. Our Hogsmead weekends occur about once every month and a half. My students love this and work hard to earn their sickles. They have been so enthusiastic with the dollar store items that I have been able to purchase, but it would be really awesome to get a little help to add in some things that are a little more expensive: books, fidget toys, fun snacks, fingernail polish, etc. They deserve it! They try so hard and could use a little extra motivation. Thank you for considering to help me with this project.
