Because of Covid-19, many students have fallen behind in their math skills. My students are challenged with the ability to perform mental math with ease and usually need the assistance of a multiplication chart or number line. My goal is to help them develop the confidence and ability to quickly compute basic math operations in their head. This will allow them to work through the challenging multi-step problems we work through in fifth grade. The best way to support my students in developing mental math skills is through these fun and engaging math games. Learning and collaborating together coupled with play is a sure strategy for success.
