The supplies in this project are for a kindergarten classroom. Writing materials are used daily in our classrooms. Reusable write and wipe pockets would help us save paper and use a variety of writing tools. They would allow me to walk about and see student work and are a simple way for students to work independently in group centers. For permanence and sharing purposes a quick picture is all that it takes to digitize this flexible record of student work. 10-frames are very popular in the early world of mathematics and the bigger the better! Counters that are most often used in these frames are notoriously getting lost all the time. Large counters and ten-frames will be so much easier for students to see, manipulate, and share their own learning. We need at least two 10-frames for our classroom because kindergartners learn counting, cardinality, and addition/subtraction up to twenty. Finally, a light table is another simple technology that would be a great support for early students learning to write numbers or letters. Given these tools students could work independently on math or writing activities. There are apps that do this kind of thing, and its even possible online, but nothing beats that solid writing utensil on paper "feel" that comes with tracing and writing.
