My students really have a desire to do well in school. But the COVID-19 pandemic has brought a variety of unique challenges into their lives. A lot of my students now suffer from anxiety, lack of motivation, and attendance issues. These problems have been made worse from doing school online for the last couple of years. They are still trying to adjust to being back in the classroom. I know my requested resources will help my students with social-emotional learning, engagement, participation, attendance, and motivation. I have seen PBIS rewards as a way of classroom management significantly help my students behave and make more of an effort in school. They feel proud of themselves when they are able to earn a reward for doing what they are supposed to be doing. I tried to choose rewards that would be motivating for them as well as rewards that serve a secondary purpose. For example, the fidget toys will help my students who have a hard time focusing. The snacks will help my students who come to school hungry. The stress balls can help with anxiety and stress. Plus many more. Plus they feel good about themselves when they work hard and see their efforts pay off.
