  • Let's Go to the Park!

    We passed out the pinnies and name tags to every classroom at our preschool and the teachers were thrilled. We began using them right away and it was really incredible how much easier is to see the children on the playground or during a walk in the community.

    As part of the physical therapy department we know how important getting to move is to learning. We are seeing classes go outside more frequently now and teachers have reported back that they feel a greater sense of pride in our school when in the community.

  • Moving Bodies = Happy Students!

    Thank you again for your donation to my project "Moving Bodies = Happy Students"! The entire school has had access to the new sensory pathway for about three months and both students and teachers are thrilled.

    We were able to put together a sequence of hopscotch, bear walk (walking on hands and feet), spinning in place, balancing along a zig-zag line, duck walk (toes raised while walking on heels), and frog jumps (squatting down to the ground prior to jumping). The different floor stickers this project paid for have been integral in keeping the students engaged and motivated.”

  • Soothing Sensory Equipment

    I have already gotten so much use out of the new pieces of sensory equipment! Thank you so much for helping get this project funded! I have been able to loan out the weighted dog to classrooms (which I support as their physical therapist) to trial and see if this is something they would like to buy for themselves.

    In my physical therapy sessions the body sock has been great in helping students who need extra help with understanding where their bodies are in space, calm down, or with picking up their feet while walking. When my students feel calm and safe they are able to try more challenging gross motor activities.

  • Preschool Yoga Program

    I am writing to let you know just how much your donation meant to my students and really the whole school. Previously the Physical Therapy (PT) department had a small number of yoga mats which we carried to each classroom when we led a yoga class. This meant classes were dependent on therapists being present in their class to follow the yoga program but we knew we wanted to do more.

    With your donation we were able to purchase new yoga mats and then distribute the mats so each classroom has their own mats. The PT department then led an in-service on the yoga program- equipping our teachers and teaching assistants with the skills to lead their own yoga classes. This has allowed each classroom to participate in the yoga program and over one hundred students get to practice yoga everyday!
