  • Learning is HOT! Using Hot Dots Pens to Improve Math Skills

    Funded Feb 2, 2013

My students loved using their hot dot pens. We used them during math centers and as review for the FCAT test. I know they were a great way to integrate technology during math centers. They also allowed me the chance to meet with with math groups everyday.

Small group instruction is so important. Because of the small group instruction my students received, they were able to grow two full years on their ending STAR assessment. I know the hot dot pens were a huge part of this because they focused on a lot of the foundational math skills! The students enjoyed practicing skills in a fun and interactive way.

The best part of this resource is that I am having to move grade levels but most of the set will still be used by my students. The adding, subtracting, and counting coins sets will be perfect for my kindergarteners! I know they will love using the interactive pens.”

    With gratitude,

  • We Fit Right In: Using Puzzles to Learn New Things

    Funded Oct 8, 2012

I can't begin to express how grateful I am that you have funded my project! I recently relocated to a new school and found myself with a brand new curriculum. I immediately realized the need for more materials but am so shocked that I was able to have a project funded so soon. We begin our space unit in the next month and will use our new resources then! I love differentiating in our class and this will make learning stations a breeze! The best part of this funding is that many of my students will get to use these type of materials for the first time! I so look forward to sharing with them and many students for years to come.

    Thanks,

    Mrs. O”

  • Mathemagicians

    Funded Mar 29, 2011

Thank you so much for your donation to our classroom. Our calculators arrived this week and how thrilling it was! I am so happy to have this resource and have already used it with my students. They were overcome with excitement, and there was a definite renewed enthusiasm for math.

I am so grateful for your gift. It was refreshing to see my students feel eager and confident about math. There are many in our area who do not have technology like calculators at home so it really is a treat for them to use this resource at school. I would never have been able to provide this for my students before DonorsChoose.

I am so appreciative of your commitment to education. I look forward to sharing this resource with many classes to come. This project will have a lasting impact on the students in my district. ”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. O'Quinn

My classroom is made up of very diverse learners. I work in guided math groups daily in an attempt to meet the needs of the boys and girls in my class. Our school is a newer school but is located in a poor area. Being a Title 1 school means that there are many children who do not have adequate resources at home. It is my hope that we can have the type of materials at school that can provide a rich learning environment.
