These manipulates will help my students build number sense and and understanding of numbers which will be the foundation of their number sense knowledge. Many students in my class need a physical object to relate their learning to. By having these visual and physical manipulative students will be able to enter a taught topic in multiple ways. Due to COVID we have to limit the amount of time that we spend in close contact with each other. Because of this we are not able to do many class read aloud books and our center time has to be shortened lessening the time we have to read with the students one on one. By having a class set of headphones students will be able to use school purchased programs to listen to books as the book is shown on an -pad. Because the headphones will block out the noises in the classroom, this will help students stay engaged and focused on their independent self paced literacy learning program. Phonological awareness and phonics are essential for students. Many of these activities will help students with blending not only short vowel words but also more advanced skills like digraphs and blends. Students will be able to use the letters to build words and use the blending skills learned to read what the word says.
