The requested Ipad and Apple TV will help me teach my students by giving them access to demonstrations of phenomena and labs both in the classroom and out. Active learning activities are critical to helping students learn at high levels. Using phenomena to teach science concepts engages students and helps them connect conceptual ideas to tangible things they have actually seen. One of the biggest challenges of the pandemic has been how to provide demonstrations and labs to students who cannot be present in the classroom. With these devices, I will be able to make quality recordings of demonstrations and labs. I can then make these videos available for students so they can see what students in class saw and enhance their learning. I can also project video of the demonstrations and labs to help students observe phenomena no matter where they sit in the classroom. These videos will help all of my students, even those who could attend in person, as they will be able to go back and review what we did as the study and prepare for assessments. Knowing that they can access activities and labs even though they may or may not be able to attend in person will help reduce stress on the students in an already stressful time of life made worse by the pandemic.
