Students have long had a difficult time making sure that their writing is clear and communicates exactly what they want to say. Oftentimes, students don't get a chance to check the clarity of their writing since they don't really have an opportunity to read their work aloud. This, of course, could be done on their own, but the chances of their intrinsic motivation allowing this are usually quite slim. If we are able to make it a part of the classroom work that must be done, then they will have a chance to do this, which will improve results for the class itself as well as assessments from the state. Instructional videos are excellent tools for students as well, but they need to have the ability to listen to them, which the headphones will allow. If need be, students could also record a verbal response or question which may be helpful for students who feel more comfortable speaking what they need rather than typing it out. There are many uses for headphones such as these that we don't get a chance to have at the school due to limited resources. Having a classroom set would be a great benefit to what my students can accomplish in class.
