I want to use these books for literature circles. I want my students to read about characters who show resiliency and grit. I want them to stay positive and be able to focus on their social-emotional and academic needs, despite what has transpired with COVID-19. I chose some books that are true stories, and others that are fiction. My hope is that that students will develop the love for reading and come to find out for themselves, what they can learn from reading. These books will show my students that they are strong enough to be full of resiliency and grit, and help them feel confidant about what is ahead for them in their life. By reading about characters, both fiction and real, who are resilient and show grit, students can not only learn to love reading, but they can also learn from the characters story.
