These corners will give students an opportunity to take a break when they are disregulated. They will go to the corner and select a breathing exercise. They will set a timer and a sensory activity to complete. When their body feels calmer they can return to class. This gives students an opportunity for awareness of how they are feeling and then to practice strategies to calm themselves and return to learning. Calming areas work to building student confidence in handling stressful events at school and often translate to increased skills in handling stressful events outside of school.
