Our school is absolutely bursting at the seams. I am so happy that so many students have returned to school in-person after taking a year off to do distance learning, but the last-minute surge in enrollment has created some challenges. I was hired just days before school started, to teach in a portable classroom that was thrown together hastily. There have been very few resources. I have done my best to create a space that feels safe and inviting, but there are still some needs. My portable is quite a long distance from the main building, and it would make mine and my students' lives much easier if I had a printer in my room. These items will help my students as they work on increasing their confidence in the writing abilities. Some of these other materials will ensure that I am able to teach effectively to kids with all different types of learning styles. Some art supplies will help me to reach kids who learn visually or kinesthetically. The same goes for the whiteboards. Lastly, to help me to continue to transform this not-so-great portable in to the best classroom it can be, I would love to have some lights and electronic candles to make it feel more cozy and safe to the students.
