This machine will provide my Montessori middle school students with an opportunity to create projects for the school while learning about manufacturing and business along they way. It is important to get my students to become creative entrepreneurs and use this technology in the classroom. They will be able to design, cut the vinyl, and complete projects of their choice. We plan to start making designed t-shirts, mugs, and home decorations to sell at school functions. My students will experience the process it takes to create something from start to finish and learn how to market those creations effectively. In adolescent Montessori classrooms, students engage in a course called occupations. Occupations is an opportunity for students to experience aspects of adult life by working side by side with an adult. Occupations are supposed to have an economic connection, but focusing on social issues are also encouraged, because learning how to be part of adult society is a Montessori goal. I'm really excited about the many different skills that my students will learn though this class and this machine will open endless doors for them.
