Following interruptions to in-person learning, students are hesitant to participate fully in class, especially in a foreign language. Easing them back into projects and classroom discussions in essential. Journaling with the requested notebooks is a great way to give students time to prepare a response before asking them to speak. This preparation time makes it much more likely for students to share their ideas out loud. After semester long scaffolding, including the journaling, students will get to celebrate their progress by presenting a cultural research project with the requested poster boards. This is a great chance for them to celebrate their progress and dive deeper into francophone culture.
