Receiving an iPad would allow my students to explore the world around them. Students would have the ability to research topics of interest, visit Universities virtually, and collaborate with other students. Implementing this technology into my counseling practice will allow for streamlined college and career planning. Students will be able to use apps to better define interests and career paths. Not only will this technology improve the college/career readiness, but it will also aid in addressing social-emotional concerns of students as we utilize different apps and programs to learn resiliency and coping strategies. As a counselor, I am able to meet with a variety of students on a regular basis. This year especially, topics of social-emotional concern have focused on COVID-19 and interpersonal skills. Students will be able to use the iPad to learn mindfulness exercises including breathing exercises and strength-based learning. By receiving an iPad for students, counselors will be able to use the device in individual/small group counseling as well as in individual college/career planning.
