If my project is fully funded, I will be able to have fun educational math games for my students to help them learn basic math skills they missed out on due to the Covid-19 pandemic. With these games, I will be able to continue to teach these lost math skills. The games allow me to work with students in small groups and help me either reinforce, review or teach math concepts. During a small group session, I will be able to see if students actually know the concept and if not, I will be able to know where they are lacking. These math games allow for a fun, engaging and competitive way for me to reinforce and review math skills. Students love to compete against each other in a friendly way. These math games also help them to learn how to work in a team and foster teamwork. The white boards will be useful to use with lessons on coordinate planes. My students are introduced to coordinate planes and they will continue to use them in more complex ways as they get into the upper grades. My hope is to use the planters to grow plants in class. We will study how plants grow and discuss the different parts that make up a plant. I would love for my students to be able to grow plants in class and see the root systems develop for themselves instead just in a book. Students need a variety of ways to fully understand a concept. For some its lecture for others it's hands on. These items will help reinforce the theory behind what is taught in a hands-on way. These items can be used for many years and have the opportunity to help more than my current students.
