It is no secret that children are feeling the impact of COVID-19 at home and also at school. As a result, a majority of my students struggle with anxiety and I take it upon myself to ensure that school is a place where they are safe. My class would benefit from balance balls to get some of their wiggles out and also soothe them when they are feeling overwhelmed. I have multiple kids in mind that would be able to focus more with the use of balance balls. Unfortunately, I have students that have had educational hits due to COVID-19 as well. They were homeschooled and need so much extra support. I would like the whiteboard tables as a creative way to practice their letters and spelling. I would use the magnets to encourage what handwriting should look like and also have them practice their spelling. I also need another bookshelf so that I can put individualized books in there for my students that need more help. I teach so many individualized lessons that my class would benefit from a second whiteboard. I could have my third graders using one of the whiteboards to assist their peers. I have a creative bunch of kids in my room. Currently, I have easy stich by hand projects that the kids love. However, I know they could use a challenge. Also, my kids would LOVE Botley the Coding Robot. We have Dash Robots at the school but they only use them in our Comp-sci class once a year. It is such an engaging and unique lesson that all of my children enjoy. As a new teacher teaching an anxious, yet creative generation, my class would benefit from balance balls, whiteboard tables, two sewing machines, and some coding robots.
