Using these multiple tools and resources for reading and math will help my students have best practice individual and whole-group activities. There is much research in the science of reading that indicates phonemic awareness and phonic skills help readers achieve. I have included several items for sorting, listening to beginning and ending sounds, books that support phonics skills, and mirrors that will help students see their mouth shapes to help them better differentiate sounds they are producing and fix errors due to not knowing how to produce sounds they are hearing correctly. The current privacy folders we have are falling apart and won't last through the year. We use these frequently for assessment purposes to help students focus on showing their own learning and understanding. In math, we are building number skills and addition and subtraction strategies. Practice with seeing these represented in different ways and being able to practice and understand these connections will be very helpful for students to become fluent and build a conceptual understanding.
