I believe in inclusion for children with Special Needs. Children with Autism should be able to stay in the general education classroom with their peers as much as possible. Students with Autism, at times, will learn differently from their peers. This should not be a factor in their school day. They should be given what they need to be successful at school. One of these needs is sensory regulations. If they can't learn the way we teach, we teach the way they learn -O. Lvar Lovaas. Students with Autism can get overstimulated in the classroom due to their nuerological differences. For this reason, I am making a sensory center for students to engage in sensory play. The light table with sensory beads will be a major attraction in this sensory center. Sensory toys are a way to stimulate any of the five senses which are sight, touch, smell, hearing, and taste. Sensory toys for kids are a great solution to help children with Autism. It’s one way to engage their senses in a less distracting way. It can give them the opportunity to regulate their senses so they can learn in a way that is the best for them. Every student should be given what they need to be successful. For my students, they need sensory regulation from the use of sensory play.
