My group of 5th graders this year have a many collectively diverse needs when it comes to how they learn. I am doing as much as possible to meet each student where they are at to provide them with the tools and resources that they may require in order to have a safe and successful learning environment. As a first year teacher, my classroom has a lot potential. My project is seeking to acquire the following resources (accompanied for a brief description of their purpose): - Whiteboards: A class set would greatly benefit my students as well as provide me with a tool use frequent formative assessments in math and ELA. - Classroom Headphones: We frequently use technology to elevate student progress in math and ELA. Many of my students do not have their own headphones that they can bring to school, so having a class set available for them to use in class would benefit them as we use various educational computer programs. - Chair Bands/Bean Bag Chairs: A majority of my students are unable to sit still in their chairs. Chair bands would help them stay in their chair and give them an outlet for their energy. The bean bag chairs are to provide my students with a variety of seating options for when sitting in their desk is not the most effective learning environment for them. Both are effective tools to promote student learning. - Notebooks: We use spiral notebooks for math notes, and I would love to do the same for science and social studies. Having uniformity across subjects can help reinforce strong studying and notetaking habits. - Hand Sanitizer: Throughout COVID-19, we are going through more hand sanitizer than ever before. Helping to keep students safe is my #1 priority. I appreciate any donations!
