On August 29, 2021, our community suffered significant damage from Hurricane Ida. Our classroom, the students' artwork, and all supplies were destroyed. My classroom is a home away from home for my students. It is a safe space for them to eat lunch and store their food. Unfortunately, our refrigerator was lost in the storm, and we would like to replace it. The other supplies listed are things students use on a daily basis. Whether it's a stapler, or a tray/storage bin to turn in their work, it is vital for to them successfully completing assignments. We use various manipulatives to create visual art before we make it digital art, which is why you see things such as flowers, scissors, ribbons, paper clips, etc. The desk organizer will be used as a student station to hold their supplies such as graph paper, pens, markers, pencils, rulers, and the like. The scissors are for art projects such as visual collages, and the sticky note dispenser is used when we do gallery walks to critique each other's work. The mouse pad is for my student with special needs who uses a trackball mouse and needs the mouse pad for ergonomic comfort. Through your donations, you can help to rebuild this classroom and make it feel like home again for students who have already lost so much. Students will once again begin to feel some sort of normalcy as they see their classroom supplies restored. They will feel comfortable coming into a safe space for lunch. The environment will be re-established, and they will have everything they need to be successful! We appreciate your donations and we thank you from the depths of our hearts! Please help us bring their art, design, and creativity back to life!
