My project reflects the variety of needs I have in my Gifted and Talented 3rd grade classroom. First, I am in need of specific materials that are motivating to Gifted and Talented students and allow these bright creative students to be able to share what they know and learn thru class presentations, productions, demonstrations and concerts. We use project based learning thru monthly Genius Hour Passion Projects, students creative group projects, and weekly subject specific projects. They love to share their creative endeavors of playwriting, acting, music composing, and film making with the class which is why I am requesting presentation remotes, digital and video cameras, microphone, etc. This will allow them to have classroom equipment for their own use and learning, instead of me doing a lot of the production work with my personal iphone or ipad. Second, I am requesting basic writing and publishing tools (pencils, markers, pencil sharpeners, highlighters, etc) because my students love to WRITE! They write and publish their own stories, plays, and songs, and are always in need of basic supplies to keep that going at our project table. In conjunction with writing, we would love to have a class set of a quality award winning novel to read all together and discuss. Third, my students would benefit from Social Emotional Classroom Tools for a Calming Corner (fidget spinner, stress balls, water timers, etc) because over half my class has anxiety issues and/or social emotional needs due to Covid and the pressures at home and school that have come from that, as well as pressures to perform in a Gifted and Talented setting. Please help us with our Social Emotional, Intellectually Creative Learning needs for these highly intelligent creative students.
