Phenomenal Technology Power...Itty Bitty Laptop
Funded Jan 22, 2022Thank you for giving us this opportunity to teach our students how to access Windows computers using the Windows laptop and a free downloadable screen reader. Using this type of screen reader will allow student will a visual impairment easier access to the internet, documents, and other software. It will provide one more avenue to learning a screen reader that anyone with a Windows computer can have access to. Learning a variety of screen readers will prepare our students as they move on to college or other pathways, especially when one considers the need to understand technology.
The more technology we can put in front of our visually impaired students, the more they will understand that there are many types and choices available for screen readers and other technology. They will not be tied to a certain type of computer but can choose which one best fits their needs. The laptop that was purchased also has a large touchscreen which is helpful for our low vision students.
It is exciting to see students get excited about new technology and what it can do to enhance their access to educational materials, but it is more than that. They learn that they have access to the world and the opportunities that it offers.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Westover
