A teacher at our school wanted to start a chess club here. Unfortunately, no one bit and the club went back to the drawing board. I seek to help him out by creating a group that plays during our lunch period called Hive. The club will be called The Hive, a fitting name for a fitting game. The game involves surrounding your opponent's queen, similar to a checkmate in chess. This game involves the same amount of strategy and depth that chess provides, without requiring as much setup from the players. The best part of this is: It only needs a big enough table for the game to be played! And the rules are simple, with complex strategies. The strategies are complex, the game simple enough to teach and play. It would be an amazing game to teach, and there can be many events surrounding this. One could be Workers (students) vs Queens (staff + teachers), tournaments, and so much more! Please help us out to make this project a reality, as this would be an avenue of learning strategies and social emotional learning for not only my students in my Autistic Support class, but for the student and staff body as a whole!
