Stand Mixers for Student Kitchens

I cannot thank you enough once again for donating and making our dreams of stand mixers happen! YOU ROCK!
When the mixers first arrived, students were so excited to experiment with a new piece of kitchen machinery. They wanted to unbox them right away and get to work. They were especially smitten with the bright purple one! The eighth grade students were so thrilled they wanted to name each mixer to welcome it to our classroom family. It was even more exciting once we started using them!
It has been less than a year since we have received the stand mixers and we have been using them as much as we can. Students have made many MANY batches of cookie dough, brownies, and more sweet treats in addition to pizza dough and pasta dough. We are looking forward to trying out bread dough in the future and making holiday treats this upcoming week. Students in all grades from 6-8 have been able to use these amazing machines all thanks to your incredibly generous support.

Having stand mixers available in our classroom kitchens will allow us to explore many new cooking and baking topics! Lessons are currently limited to what we can do with our own two hands and a spoon. Having the opportunity to mix bread dough, whip egg whites, and create more efficiently with the little classroom time we have will make a world of difference and open up the door to more diverse learning experiences. It is a goal of mine to expose my students to as much of the family and consumer sciences content as possible. Utilizing the proper tools and equipment will allow us to be closer to reaching that goal. Having the stand mixers available in my classroom will allow me to give students the cooking experiences they deserve. FCS teaches valuable life skills that students will be able to take with them. I believe that kitchen skills are an enormous part of these life skills that will help students to build their confidence and independence. Thank you for considering donating to my classroom. With your help we can bake something wonderful.
