As my students are 1st graders, they have not been in school during a non-COVID school year. My students have faced the mental toll COVID has put on all of us. Many of my students have not been able to express their emotions towards COVID or struggles at home. With the tools that I have wished for, I will be able to teach my students how to better manage and express their emotions! What tools am I getting? The Spot of Emotion Books: To teach students about indivual emotions and what we can do to manage them. The Spot of Emotion Plushies: To give kids a physical sensory example of their emotions. The Spot of Emotions Teachers Mannual: So that I can give the best quality of instruction to my students. Wobble Chairs: To help students who need extra movement during the day. Fidget Cubes and Stress Balls: To give students a sensory way to manage their emotions. I would like to use each book to learn and talk about emotions. I will help students learn what to do if they are angry, sad, excited, scared or happy. I will teach that emotions are allowed to be felt. I will help them learn how to handle the emotions that come with difficult situations at school, with friends and at home. Learning how to manage emotions is a life skill that will go beyond just my classroom. Students will be able to use these skills the rest of their lives. They can also teach others and build better relationships. I am so excited to better help my students learn about their social and emotional health!
