  • Fine Motor Fun

    Funded Jul 5, 2023

This project has helped so much! We received so many items that we have shared items throughout 4 classrooms! So your contributions are helping grades K-5, and we love you for that. Of course I know that these little 3 paragraph thank you letters don't even begin to explain how much this has helped the Special Needs classrooms at Owen Elementary.

Students are learning with hands-on activities and that helps their neurodivergent minds see things in ways that worksheets won't. The activities like counting with the Nuts about Sorting help them physically have the items in their hands and the students are picking it up so much quicker. The category sorting has them learning without the fuss of a teacher standing at a board and explaining everything.

Again, we greatly appreciate you donating to our project and helping our students get what they need to learn the best way they can!”

    With gratitude,

    Mx. Cooke School

  • Life! It is All Around Us!

    Funded Apr 21, 2022

Thank you so much for the donations. My students absolutely love all the science materials that were in this project. They are so fascinated by everything. These are students that wouldn't get a chance to see these items if not for you.

When the project was first delivered, my students were very curious. They saw the animals on the box and were asking tons of questions. When I brought the first box out, students were in awe of the items inside. They immediately wanted to see all the other boxes that came.

We are currently in the process of making a project for some math supplies that are really needed. The students need more hands-on tools for math instead of learning off of worksheets.

Again, thank you so much! We appreciate every little penny that was donated.”

    With gratitude,

  • Emotions Are Everywhere! Let's Learn About Them

    Funded Jun 18, 2022

Thank you so much for donating to this project. We use these items everyday to identify how we are feeling and how we can grow as students. Using the Social Emotional board games, my students have been able to recognize how they can be kind to others, how they feel in certain situations, and how to feel empathy towards others.

When I first brought the materials out, the students were a little bit confused because they don't look like you're typical lesson supplies. After everyday practice however, students are excited to get these tools out and recognize what feelings they are having.

Our next project that I will be publishing soon, will be all about math supplies. We are in need of hands-on materials that help my students understand numbers and operations without having to use worksheets.

Again, thank you for your donation. We greatly appreciate it.”

  • Fun Learning Materials

    Funded Jan 17, 2022

Thank you so much for all of your donations. My students use these items daily when practicing their learning skills. A lot of the phonics games are used so much that you would think that the game has been used for quite some time. They love the Pop and Learn game for both phonics and math skills. The phonics little reader sets allows the students to read a book together in a group rather than needing to do it by themselves without any help.

When they first saw the materials, they were super excited because they saw all the games that they were going to get to play.

Since this project, our class has had another project for Science materials funded. We currently have another project up for math materials.

Thank you so much again for the lovely donation!”

  • Sensory Friendly Classroom

    Funded Jan 17, 2022

We appreciate your donation so much! The students are using the items you sent to us everyday! Students have time to use these items in ways that they need. We always start our day with the visual schedule and it is always up for students to look at throughout the day. We have used the table top light panel plenty of times to get students interacting in different ways then they might be used to. With that light panel, our translucent numbers have helped them use the light panel during math by being able to touch the numbers and see them glow on the panel. Everyday, students ask to use the wobble chair or the balance balls to get their wiggles out instead of a chair.

They are LOVING the supplies you helped send us. It was like christmas morning when we opened everything up. They wanted to look at and try everything out! Everyone had something that they drifted towards that helped with their sensory needs.

My students are now trying to learn that these items are not necessarily for fun. It is for them to calm their body down. We are working on them using the items when they get overwhelmed.

We have already funded two different projects since this one and they already have received those materials. We currently have one up for new math equipment for the students to practice their math skills in hands-on ways.

One again, thank you so much for your donation.”

I want to let my students know that it is okay to be who they are. If they need certain things, that I can provide them in their learning environment. With my students being mildly cognitively impaired they learn in different ways and sometimes don't know how they learn. This leads them to being frustrated and seek sensory tools. These materials will help my students with their sensory needs. They will be able to use these tools whether it be a certain seat or a schedule to know that they can control their needs when they need to. The table top light board will give my students a chance to learn in a sensory way. The calming kit will help my students recognize their emotions and give them a break when they are frustrated. The chairs will give them other options then a hard chair that they can't move on. All these things will make their overall atmosphere more sensory friendly.
