  • Organized Classroom, Organized Minds

    Funded Feb 8, 2023

You should have seen the kids face when they saw the new organizer! They were curious and excited. They gained independence and a better appreciation for the blue desk that we use every day.

It has made smalls groups easier with quicker set up and clean up. The organizer also provides the students with opportunities to problem solve and work together to keep the room organized.

Added bonus the desk organizer come with wheels! If we need to take a group into the hall way we are able to push the cart while the children bring their books.

Thank you again for all of your help!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Calderon

  • Super Science Scholastic Magazines!

    Funded Sep 29, 2022

These magazines have been a great enrichment for my students! Every week my students get excited to see what topic we're going to cover next. I have begun to use them in small groups too to help children work on their sight words and decoding skills.

These magazine are also great for sub plans! It is easy to follow with the large print. The students love the digital access, and I do too! It provides related videos to help everyone, especially my English language learners. The website also has games that connect the science and phonics in an entertaining way for the students.

Thank you to everyone who contributed to this project. You are awesome!”

  • Portable Desks for Writing

    Funded Feb 26, 2022

THIS HAS CHANGE EVERYTHING! The portable desk have been incorporated into many parts of our day such as centers, small groups and behavior management. the flexible setting provides little moves a comfortable place to work and move their bodies.

Last year my students were very excited when they saw the blue desk. This year my kindergarteners love using blue desk! They always ask if it is their turn to work on the rug.

Next steps will be to use the blue desk for partner work between the students. Thank you for everything!”

  • Goody Bags for Indoor Play

    Funded Jan 24, 2022

In my classroom, my students LOVE their indoor recess pack! When it is raining or too cold my class was able to stay engaged throughout the period. The markers were initially going to be used in each pack but after a class consideration, we all agreed to add the markers to our classroom supplies. This way it allows availability to students who need to borrow supplies though the day.

When the packages came in, I organized a indoor pack packer station. The children's eyes grew large as they saw all the materials they were allowed to bring to indoor recess. Their excitement grew when they were able to choose a color notebook and pen for their bag!

My next steps with my class is to use the comic paper to create a comic series. Our 4th grade class has begun working on comic strips. We have started to learn the different elements of a comic and how we can tell a story through a new genre.

Thank you for everything you have donated!”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Calderon

This classroom project was brought to life by A New York City Parent and 2 other donors.
Students love to play outdoors at recess time with their friends. They get to run outside in the courtyard and play games with their friends. However, with the cold New York City winter weather, students have been more likely to have indoor recess. During indoor recess students sometimes complain they get bored watching movies. Having a goody bag filled with entertaining supplies will allow students to have fun during indoor recess time and also be creative. My fourth grade students will be more energized when they return from lunch if they receive these indoor recess goody bags.
