  • Obtaining E.L.A. Resources For Self Contained Classroom

    Funded Jan 10, 2023

Thank you so much for the generosity you demonstrated that enabled me to purchase Language Art resources for my class. I am very conscious of the fact I need to make the giftcard dollars stretch and buy resources that will only provide enrichment and enable me to foster creative thought through Language Arts. The students recently were able to learn about St Patrick and the holiday surrounding his life. They were also introduce to Language Art resources that had a technology concept associated with them. I use the gift card to get resources in order to Celebrate Pi Day with Pie in my classroom. The most exciting thing I have noticed is that students want to learn more, know more. No topic is too different or vague for them. They are currently sponges and thirst for more knowledge that they have not been exposed to

Once again, thank you so much for enabling a humble career changer who was supposed to teach only math be able to provide an equally rewarding Language Arts instruction through the materials purchased.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Saborit

  • Art Supplies!

    Funded Dec 27, 2022

Thank you for your generosity that enabled me to get Art Supplies for my 4th Grade Class. The students were each able to have a posterboard and the needed supplies of crayons, colored pencils, markers, and glue to create beautiful research projects on Famous African American Historical Figures for Black History Month. The amount of creativity and of course critical thinking to properly research their person was my end goal. Students were able to use the school library since I made a condition that they could not use google or wikipedia to obtain the information on their historical figure. This enabled me to bring our librarian and teach them the importance of good research utilizing BOOK!

Once again, thank you so much for enabling me to think outside the box with my kids and provide them a solid well rounded educational environment.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Saborit

  • Help Me Get Additional Resources on Teacher Pay Teacher!

    Funded Nov 8, 2022

I want to stress that your generosity has made my ability to teach students much more enriching and creative. This project allowed to purchase materials on Teacher Pay Teacher to further enrich and reteach skills that I was teaching and also allow my students to be creative and express their knowledge in non-traditional ways.

It was exciting to see the projects made for Black History Month. My students are all minorities and it is important for them to have a well rounded education that teaches them the contributions of people from all backgrounds and walks of life.

Once again, thank you for allowing me to be a better teacher for my students!”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Saborit

  • Homework Planners and a Stool for Mr. Saborit

    Funded Sep 13, 2022

We are so appreciative of your generosity. The agendas has allowed all of my students to begin good habits in staying organized. Recently my classroom went self contained which means I am teaching all subjects to my students. This involves teaching Language Arts/English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Reading. The agendas allow them to keep organized.

In Math, the students are able to write down their book assignments and also keep track of their online assignments as well. The agendas have so many spaces that they are so happy to remain organized. This also has been expressed by their parents who say it is so much easier to know what assignments their child has to do now that they have agenda/organizers.

We are so grateful for your generosity. Words can not express how much your donations contribute to our classroom. Being a Title 1 school, our students are all from low income households. This extra help goes a long way to helping my students succeedd and learn.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Saborit

  • Help Mr Saborit’s Classroom Print!

    Funded Aug 27, 2022

Did you know that on average, 95% of students in Title I schools lack access to an electronic device or printing abilities? Giving these students access to a printer where they can print their homework gives them parity in the classroom. Gone are the days where they do not turn in projects and assignments because of a lack of access to resources. As an educator, I have first hand knowledge and have seen very bright students not do homework because of not having a printer. I have seen students unleash their creative potentials, researching new topics of interest and presented their projects in ways they have never done before.

Students in my class as their first project using the printer did letters to honor our veteran's for Veteran's Day. The students were able to print their letters and also print out clip art for adorning the letters. The latest project they are excited to do is a diorama showing their respective family background and heritage.

The students who are new to our country and traditionally pose a challenge when asking them to engage in new technology or method of presenting their work were the first ones to take advantage of your generosity. Seeing their eyes light up as they learn a new fact on their family history is usually my favorite thing to see. New students are proud of their heritage and students who's native language is not Spanish are exposed to new cultures, topics, and lives that might be very different from their day to day. At the end of the day, the ability to do a lot of my work online is appredicated and a key component of learning to incorporate technology in the curriculum so that student are able to thrive.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Saborit

  • Please Help Us Print from Our One Computer!

    Funded Apr 7, 2022

You will never know the impact that having a working printer has done for my wonderful 22 students. Many of my students either do not have a printer at home or don't have the printer or a computer at home. My class also had 13 students who were new to the country and spoke no English. Many of them could only dream to have a printer to use for their homework but unfortunately their parent's priorities are in establishing their home in a new country and keeping their heads above water.

This printer has enabled us to think outside the box when assessing skill gain and growth. My students as a result had authentic assessments where they could be creative and opt to do a team project with presentation on the material we covered or take the standard paper and pencil exam. At first, not too many took me up on the creative art projects to demonstrate knowledge but by the end of the year, I was ordering toner and paper was flying everywhere as students cut letters, made designs and graphic organizer, created anchor charts worked in teams to present the material and demonstrate that they understood the lesson.

My ESOL student really benefited from this as a result of not having the means to afford a printer. Another benefit for me is that I am able to print out my lesson plans and if a student does a computer diagnostic test, I can also print out results for them to take to their parents since most parents struggle with knowing how to log on to the result portal and obtain the test results for their child. We might not change the world, but I do know that your generosity did change the world of 22 very appreciative kids and one lucky 1st year teacher! My kids even did a thank you card but we don't know where we can mail it to with their signatures thanking the donor for their generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Mr. Saborit

My students are English Language Learners who are new to the United States. Most have never used computers however they are required to complete online lessons using programs that help build their language skills and learn to read/speak in English. They also receive additional lessons for Math and have to do them online. Coming from such impoverished backgrounds, settling in our country and getting accustomed to our way of life and education system is the main challenge I have where parents do not have the means to afford electronic devices. These Chromebook will ensure I have a computer center where they can complete this required instruction since their families just do not have the financial means to purchase devices, being so new in our country.
