Making Neuroscience Available to All Students!
Funded Nov 27, 2023Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity in making this classroom project possible. The students loved reading a relevant and historical account of famous tales in neuroscience. The classroom discussions that we had were fascinating and you could tell that the students were interested in the material. They could not wait to discuss it with me and their peers.
The students were given a large choice board and could choose how to show their knowledge of the book. I saw sculptures, essays, visual timelines, children's books, 3-D dioramas, and analyses of scientific journal articles. The students really enjoyed this opportunity. It is hard for us to do new textbooks with the students because not everyone can go out and buy the book. Your kindness made it so this lesson was possible. It really built onto our Nervous System unit.
Your generosity allowed every student to have their own copy of the book. I cannot wait to do it next year. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.”

Learning How to Take Vital Signs: A Vital Skill
Funded Dec 23, 2022I cannot thank you enough for your kindness and generosity. Students are always amazed to find out that people in our world and community are interested in empowering them and their education. We opened up the box together and they were so excited to take them out and try them out.
These materials have added an extra component to our Human Anatomy and Physiology Circulatory System and Respiratory System Units. Our unit is now much more hands-on and has a clinical approach. We have many students who want to work in the healthcare field and they were ecstatic to learn how to take blood pressure. We actually used students from our CNA program to come and teach us how to use the sphygmomanometer. It was so great to see the passion for healthcare that existed between the two groups.
We are also going to use the stethoscope and Pulse oxygen readers to look at heart rates and oxygen saturation. Students will also learn how to auscultate the lungs.
I am from a very diverse district with a lot of socioeconomic differences and your generosity was able to improve the experience of so many students.
Thank you thank you thank you!”

Class Set of Anecdotal Medical School Text For High School
Funded May 6, 2022Thank you so much for giving my students the opportunity to read "Hot Lights Cold Steel" by Michael Collins. Normally, the Anatomy and Physiology students spend 16 hours shadowing medical professionals. They have not been able to do this since Covid. This was a wonderful alternative to that opportunity. The students read the book independently and answered questions. This allowed them the next best option for seeing firsthand what it is like in a medical profession.
Then, the students did weekly small group discussions and a weekly Socratic seminar to dive into some of the deeper topics. Their final assignment was to write a reflection piece on Dr. Collins' experience as a medical resident. So many of my students told me that they could not put the book down. It is fascinating to read! Many of them found more interest in going into the medical profession, and some made the very important decision that it was not for them :)
Our students would not be able to have this opportunity without your selfless generosity. Thank you for the classroom set and they will be used year after year.”
With gratitude,
Ms. Konyn
