  • Stand By Me!

    Funded Nov 8, 2023

Thank you so much for your generous donation of our touchscreen portable smart monitor. Technology is an intricate part of the learning experience for students with disabilities. Your contribution has greatly enhanced our ability to provide personalized and interactive lessons for our students. With this new device, we can cater to individual learning styles and adapt our teaching methods to better accommodate their needs. We are truly grateful for your support in helping us create a more inclusive and accessible learning environment for all. The monitor is ideal for presentations, it's size and mobility make it perfect for students to easily view and interact with educational materials. Its touchscreen capabilities allow for hands-on learning experiences, making lessons more engaging and effective. We are confident that this monitor will have a significant impact on the academic success of our students with disabilities, and we are excited to see the positive outcomes it will bring to future students. Thank you once again for your generous donation and for believing in our mission to provide quality education for all students.”

  • I See Me in You

    Funded May 23, 2023

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous gift card donation to support the I See You in Me alumni and student engagement lunch. Your thoughtful contribution means so much to us, and it will have a profound impact on the lives of the young individuals we serve.

The luncheon was supposed to take place at the restaurant, but we had to change venues due to transportation constraints. Despite the change in venues, the luncheon was a huge success. A team of teachers pitched in and decorated one of the classrooms with tablecloths, centerpieces, and much more. All to make the luncheon feel special and welcoming.

The alumni shared stories and memories from their time at the school, creating a nostalgic atmosphere. They poured advice and wisdom onto the current students, inspiring them to chase their dreams and strive for success. There was laughter, and even a few tears were shed. It was such a blessing to see current students receiving such valuable guidance from those who had walked the same path before them. It was a truly unforgettable experience. Each attendee asked that I host another opportunity for them to gather, share their experiences, and continue learning from each other.

I was committed to ensuring that your gift card donation was used effectively and responsibly. There was one alumnus who wanted to make the event badly, but she had just started a new job and couldn't make it. The students present thought it would be a great idea to bring lunch to her. They knew she would appreciate the gesture, and it would show their gratitude for her willingness to contribute. My goal is to surprise her at work with lunch. Your support was not only a financial contribution but also a demonstration of your belief in the potential of these young individuals to overcome their difficulties.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and for choosing to make a difference in the lives of our scholars. Your kindness is a beacon of hope for them and inspires me to work diligently towards their betterment.

If you have any questions or would like to learn more about our school and the young adults we serve, please feel free to contact me (everette.white@k12.dc.gov). Your ongoing interest and involvement are greatly appreciated.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Everette White

  • A School Without Walls

    Funded Jan 31, 2023

I hope this letter finds you in good health and high spirits. I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donation of iPads to our classroom. Your kindness and support have left an indelible mark on our student's educational journey, and I am truly grateful for your contribution.

The iPads you donated have significantly enhanced the learning experience in our classroom. Their versatility and educational applications have allowed our students to explore new realms of knowledge, engage in interactive lessons, and develop essential digital literacy skills. Your gifts have given them a powerful learning tool and inspired their curiosity, creativity, and passion for learning. The impact of your donation extends beyond the classroom walls. Our students now have access to a vast array of educational resources, interactive learning materials, and collaborative platforms that facilitate their academic growth and foster a love for learning.

On behalf of the entire class, their parents, and the school, I want to express our deepest appreciation for your generosity and thoughtfulness. Your commitment to education and belief in our students' potential will have a lasting impact on their lives.”

  • Back to Snacks

    Funded Sep 11, 2022

Words can not express how thankful we are for your contributions. The primary purpose of my seeking your assistance was to provide snacks and food for scholars who have been forced to skip meals for various reasons. Our scholars commute from various areas of the city. Some juggle parenthood, jobs, being caregivers, homelessness, and many other socioeconomic disadvantages. The snacks, though not much, offer them some nutrients to keep them afloat.

When I first showed the goodies to the scholars, they were ecstatic! I was sure to tell them where they came from and how they were donated to offer them just a little sustenance between meals. They particularly loved the Chef Borardee Meals and would request to take one with them to eat later while on their lunch break at work. The cookies, chips, and other treats were great incentives during classroom games and other fun activities. Some treats were also used as manipulatives in our plant and animal cell projects.

Again thank you so much; we appreciate your generosity.”

    With gratitude,

    Dr. Everette White
