  • Fresh New Pottery Tools!

    Funded Aug 5, 2023

First I just want to say thank you! The supplies that you so generously supplied are used daily! They truly help all students from hand-building to wheel throwing in all projects.

When the boxes started to arrive in my class the students were so excited to not only to help me get things sorted, put together, and put in their new homes; but also to be the first to use them. My more advanced students who knew what things were their excitement was not just visible but also voiced. One student said "This is better than Christmas and my birthday put together!" Coming from a title one school where many students don't have, this is a gift that just keeps giving.

Through out the semester students will finish a number of assigned projects and pieces they choose to do and will take them home for their own uses or gifts for loved ones. Thank you for helping them succeed at making beautiful functional and sculptural pieces.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hulse

  • Tape Sculptures

    Funded Jan 12, 2022

This was such a terrific project!

The students truly came together to make tape people and problem solve. Students in the halls would stop in and look at our progress and ask questions. It was so much fun to have the students explain to passer byes and bring friends in.

The fine arts event where they were displayed they got so much attention. Parents, students, and patrons would take selfies with them and they were the perfect focal point for the entrance.

Thank you so much for your generosity it truly brought not just our class but our school together. The sculptures are now randomly placed around the school and will have a place at least until the end of the year.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Hulse

These materials will give my students an opportunity to work collaboratively on a school art installation for a fine arts event called Synergy. Synergy is an event where the visual arts, and performing arts students come together for a night of group performances and collaboration between all of our Fine Arts classes.(Choir, Band, Orchestra, Guitar, Ukulele, Dance, Photography, Painting, Pottery, Jewelry & Metal Smithing, Art 1 & 2, and Art Studio.) The art installation will be 9 life-sized tape sculptures and props made out of many layers of packing tape, inspired by sculptures by George Segal. The theme song for the night is "One Day" by Matisyahu; each group of 3 sculptures will have an interactive part where any and all, can fill out colored note cards having to do with future dreams, goals, community coming together to support each other, and the world around us. We have scissors, props, and the people we will need to use as our subject matter. The biggest and most costly part is the tape it's self. This will be such a fun collaborative project for my class to study the proportions of the human body, think outside the box, problem-solve, work together, and learn about using an unconventional medium for creating art.
