The students learn one small piece a week, one large piece a month, and an even longer and harder piece per semester. One of the students is obsessed with Turkish March. So much so he is learning it for the upcoming recital! I couldn't be more proud of the progress they have made.

In the four years, I have taught at this school, the program has nearly doubled in size, reaching 140 students this past year, requiring the addition of more advanced Piano III and IV classes. Several of our students have wanted to major in piano at the college level. Unfortunately, students need to start piano at a much younger age to compete well for music scholarships and other opportunities. My goal is to expand the program for younger students in the middle school and eventually start an after-school program for elementary students. This will require the addition of a new piano lab. Funding for this project will help provide students with piano keyboards for the new piano lab.

About my class
