  • Crafting for Social-Emotional Well-Being

    Funded Sep 27, 2024

I had a group of about twenty 6th, 7th and 8th graders who had a wonderful time crafting and learning various skills such as knitting and crocheting. They were able to teach each other and collaborate on group projects. They made and exchanged elaborate friendship bracelets. They also had a chance to learn about the culture of Huichol and Tepehuan people of western Mexico while making the "ojo de dios" or "God's Eye" crafts. Their sense of joy, accomplishment, and confidence grew with every project they completed.

My students and I are grateful for the supplies that afforded us hours of fun and learning.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Welch

  • Visualize Mitosis!

    Funded Aug 5, 2024

I wanted to extend my heartfelt gratitude for your generous donations and unwavering support for our science classroom. Your contributions have made an incredible impact on our ability to provide hands-on learning experiences for our students, particularly in studying the fascinating process of mitosis through microscope slides.

Your generosity has given my students the tools they need to explore and understand the wonders of biology in a tangible way. These hands-on activities not only enhance their learning but also ignite a passion for discovery that will stay with them for years to come.

Thank you once again for believing in the power of education and for investing in the future of our young scientists. Your support is truly appreciated, and we are deeply grateful for your kindness.”

    With gratitude,

    Mrs. Welch

  • Fun Chemistry Molecular Kit

    Funded Apr 23, 2024

With the chemistry molecular kits, our students have had the chance to explore complex concepts in chemistry through interactive experiments and activities.

The molecular kit has allowed students to build and visualize three-dimensional models of molecules. This hands-on activity has been instrumental in helping them grasp the spatial arrangement of atoms and the structure of various chemical compounds, which is often challenging to understand through textbooks alone. They have learned to manipulate the models to explore different molecular configurations and understand how these configurations affect chemical properties and reactions. The molecular kit activities involve group work, fostering collaboration and communication among students.”

  • The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks

    Funded May 24, 2024

Thank you for donating the set of books to my science middle school classroom. "The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks" is a book that is very relevant to science learning. My students will have a chance to consider diverse perspectives, ethical considerations and other issues related to science and medical research. Thank you for inspiring future scientists!”

  • Keep It Hot!

    Funded Jan 5, 2024

I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contribution towards the purchase of an engineering kit for our middle school students at Winburn Middle School. Your support has had a profound impact on the educational journey of our students.

Thanks to your donation, our students have had the opportunity to engage in hands-on learning experiences that have inspired curiosity, foster creativity, and develop critical problem-solving skills. The engineering kit you helped provide has not only supplemented our curriculum but also ignited a passion for STEM fields among our students.

Your commitment to education and investment in our students' futures is truly commendable. Your generosity has enabled us to create a dynamic learning environment where students can explore, innovate, and thrive. We are incredibly grateful for your support and the positive influence it will have on the lives of our students.”

  • Microbiology Investigations

    Funded Aug 2, 2023

We are incredibly grateful for your generous donation of agar plates for our microbiology investigation. This thoughtful contribution has made a significant impact on our students' learning experience. As they enthusiastically swabbed various surfaces throughout the school, they not only had an absolute blast but also gained an insight into the field of microbiology and a profound understanding of the significance of maintaining proper personal hygiene. This engaging activity truly captivated their attention, allowing them to thoroughly enjoy every single minute of this educational adventure.”

  • Basic Classroom Supplies

    Funded Mar 3, 2023

My students and I are deeply grateful for the much-needed classroom supplies that your generous donations have made available to us. The lack of such resources in the classroom negatively impacts my students' learning. However, with the new supply of coloring pencils, tape, glue, etc. my students became engaged in hands-on projects. Their creativity, attitude, and even behavior dramatically improved. One example of a very successful activity we completed with our new supplies is a Carbon Cycle Comic Strip-my students were deeply engaged and have learned a lot! Thank you!”

  • Basic Supplies for a Science Classroom

    Funded Jan 22, 2023

I am very grateful for the beautiful coloring pencils, notebooks, and other supplies my students have received thanks to your support. Most of my students are generally not able to afford basic school supplies which can greatly impede their academic success. Therefore, the supplies were greatly appreciated by all.

We used the coloring pencils to complete comic strips about the carbon cycle and these came out so beautifully that we decided to exhibit them in the school hallway. My students felt very proud of their work. We also constructed paper rockets for our study of motion (for these we needed the tape we received through your generous donation). The students had a lot of fun flying the rockets.

Thank you for helping generate excitement for learning for my students!”

  • Hidden Figures Reading Challenge

    Funded Sep 20, 2022

reading Hidden Figures with my middle school students was a very powerful experience for all of us. I was pleasantly surprised to see how many of my students were deeply impacted, inspired, and empowered by reading about the history of the African-American women who helped do the math that put Americans in space.

We read the book together, at times out loud, during Black History Month which was particularly important for my population made up of primarily African American students. Most students were particularly inspired by the perseverance of these women who were able to imagine and work toward a future free of racism and discrimination. I feel confident that my students will remain on the path of working towards these goals in the future.”

  • The Great American Balloon Car Race Project

    Funded Dec 28, 2021

My students and I were never as excited as we were when we received the materials and began our Balloon Car Project. For the first time in my teaching career, I had one hundred percent engagement from over a hundred students I taught that day. Every single student reached all the learning targets and had a tremendous amount of fun building, testing, and racing their balloon cars! Learning about Newton's Laws of Motion has never been this much fun. This level of engagement resulted in a deeper understanding of the scientific principles, and best of all enhanced my students' appreciation of science.”

The students' understanding of these activities will allow them to learn about simple machines, motion, force, energy transfer, mechanical energy, and problem solving. In doing this, students will employ framework concepts from physical science as well as engineering, technology and applications of science (PS2-Motion and Stability: Forces and Interactions, PS3-Energy and ETS1 - Engineering Design). This kit has been aligned with all published National Standards. Pre- and Post-laboratory assessments and vocabulary words all target specific Science and Engineering Practices and common core standards. It also contains specific "Did You Know" concepts that link the real world with the scientific standards explored.
