As a result of the collective trauma of COVID and the past nearly two years, I have enrolled in a Breathe for Change cohort beginning in January 2022. It is clear that the impact of the pandemic requires educators to have a deeper skill set in terms of social and emotional learning and thoughtful approaches to healing. Breathe for Change equips educators to use wellness- yoga, meditation, and social emotional lessons- as a vehicle for healing and social change. The professional development that I will be embarking on is a 200-hour digital wellness, SEL and Yoga Teacher training over six months. Upon completion of the course, I will also be ready to share my experience with my colleagues through Wellness Workshops. This project not only impacts the students in my class, but the whole school community will benefit. I am so grateful for this opportunity and excited for the experience. However, I need the gear to participate in this amazing experience!
