Station Options!
Funded Dec 28, 2023Thank you so much for donating to my station options project. With your support, I was able to purchase teachers pay teachers activities for students to work on individually during rotations. Some of the activities I bought include 3 digit number matching games, 3 digit addition and subtraction spinners, dice rolling games, and tic tac toe games. I was able to organize these activities in plastic drawers that students can access themselves and work on independently after they've finished their iPad lesson.
These activities allow my students to learn using hands on materials to supplement the learning that they are doing on their iPad, and independently practice math skills that we are working on in class. The game aspect of the activities keeps students engaged.
I am very thankful for your help in supporting my students!”

Reading Counts Book Drive
Funded Apr 4, 2023Thank you so much for your generous donations to my book drive! My students were so excited to get new books in our classroom. They especially love that the Captain Underpants books are in color! Our school uses Reading Counts to track reading progress and one of my top readers already read all of the new books you helped me get! He has read over 50 chapter books this school year!
I love seeing second graders challenge themselves to read more difficult books by the end of the year and see their own progress- they went from reading small picture books to longer chapter books like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants. They are so proud when they pass quizzes on books!
Thank you for helping me raise students who love to read :)”

Funded Mar 10, 2023Thank you so much for your support! The apple pencil is so helpful for me while I teach. It allows me to write on slides during the day. This is both engaging for students and allows us to more easily do turn and chats with partners during a lesson instead of them listening to me talk all day.
One of the ways that I specifically use this in phonics is to help students sound out words. If students are not reading a word correctly, I will use the pencil to write out each letter and sound it out with them at the same time. Then we blend all of the sounds together. It is much more effective than me simply pointing at the letters.
Thank you again for your support, you are making teaching in my classroom easier and more engaging!”

Book Drive!
Funded Feb 21, 2022I was so excited to introduce these books to my class this year! My school uses the Reading Counts program to track student's reading progress. Most of the books in the classroom must haves book list have reading counts quizzes that go along with the books. When students pass a quiz on a book, the number of words in the book counts towards their yearly word count goal. For second grade, the goal is for them to read 7,000 words per week.
Students have loved the chapter books in the set. Henry and Mudge has been one of the favorites along with Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Captain Underpants! There are also some picture books featuring Latinx characters that I have spotlighted for Hispanic Heritage Month.
Lastly, the nonfiction books in the set have allowed me to teach students that are below grade level how to read nonfiction books and identify nonfiction text features. I really appreciate your support- thank you for helping my class love reading! This is crucial to their future success in school and beyond.”

Funded Jan 15, 2022Thank you so much for your generous donations! I have used the TPT gift card to purchase culturally responsive social studies curriculum for my students. For the month of February, I purchased 2 different black history month units. My students have loved getting to learn about famous black figures- the curriculum has informative slides along with worksheets that ask students questions about how they can also help create a more equal community now and in the future.
Many of the worksheets ask students to dream big- it has been so much fun to talk about the students' goals and dreams for themselves and to be able to encourage them to blaze their own trail in history!”

Funded Dec 20, 2021Thank you so much for your generous donations! I was so excited to receive my SEL book set. For the month of February I decided to launch a kindness challenge using some of the SEL books about kindness. We read books about kindness, made a poster about ways that we can show kindness to our classmates, and I created "kindness dollars" that students earn when I see them showing kindness to others. At the end of the month, I will raffle off 2 prizes to students who have showed kindness this month. My students are very excited about the raffle and I have seen many students going out of their way to be kind to each other already :)”
