The ability to move around in a calm environment can not only help to relax students but help them to grow by giving them a kinetic and engaging experience that allows them to grow as students and interact socially. I have noticed the communication deficits that students have after this historic interaction with a pandemic and changing social climate. I want to provide them a space that feels calm and reminds them to believe in themselves and continue to strive to be the kind and intellectual people I know they are capable of being. Studies have shown that a consistent and actively though out room design helps to relax students and motivates them to engage with their learning surroundings. My students are noticeably more engaged in their work and less disruptive of their peers when they are given a choice to interact with the old whiteboards in my room. The products that I have selected will help my students by giving them a much needed and updated surfaces to work on and explore as well as feel reminded to be peaceful, kind, and engaged with their learning experiences which will create more effective learning choices. I have seen how choice and historic quotes like the ones on the banners have gotten my students to engage with their academic, personal, and social selves which can positively affect my students' work and demeanor and hope that the additional options will help us grow.
