  • Multimodal Learning Space

    Funded Sep 9, 2022

Thank you so much for supporting our classroom. With your help, students will be able to learn in an environment that matches their needs. Not only will flexible seating make learning more inclusive, it will make our classroom accessible, more adaptable for independent work time, and more dynamic for group work and discussions.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mead

  • Visualizing Literacy

    Funded Jan 12, 2022

There aren’t words to express how grateful I am. A document camera is an essential item in a literacy classroom that invites students into the reading and writing experience. Not only does it being literacy to life, it does so in a safe, socially-distanced way. Now, planning for equitable and safe instruction will be so much easier and I can focus on what really matters— my kiddos.”

    With gratitude,

    Ms. Mead

I understand education as a mechanism for emboldening students academically, socially, culturally, and creatively. As a literacy educator, and Workshop Model teacher, I believe that it is my responsibility to demonstrate high-level reading and writing skills live, inviting students to be inside of the reading and writing processes on a daily basis. A document camera will make literacy instruction accessible for all of my students. A functioning document camera makes it possible for students to join me on the page of a book, or a notebook, as I read, and think aloud before them in a safe way. By being a part of this literacy experience, students are then better set up to transfer their learning into their own reading and writing lives. Recently, our beautiful document camera stopped working, making literacy instruction so much harder and also a health risk. Teaching in the time of Covid-19 already creates so many obstacles for teachers, so please help me to eliminate one more, and bring literacy back to life, by helping us to replace a key resource in our classroom.
