My students come from homes where there is little money for buying extras. They come from homes where English is their Second Language. I would love to get a "Teachers pay teachers gift card", so I can have the opportunity to individualize and laminate and reuse the sheets for my individual students. My students’ have fine motor deficits as well and have a hard time building with toys. It would amazing for them to be able to learn how to build with ‘Magna tiles’, a toy that is rewarding and that doesn’t require too much hand strength. They also have multiple disabilities and it is often hard for them to relate to their families and friends. I want to be able to use ‘realia’ (play food, dishes, play people, etc.) to role play with my students. I hope they will transfer the things I teach them through movement and play and be able to transfer these activities to interact with their friends and family members better. My sincere hope is that they will transfer the things I teach and practice with them through learning and play to their home lives as well. Consequently, this will improve their ability to interact, communicate, and become more functional members of society.
