As students in a Title 1 school that has no windows and located in a low- income neighborhood, it is important that they keep up with the latest advancements in technology and education. This will give them access to the knowledge they need to be productive adult citizens. The world is continually changing and my students need a fighting chance to be able to be an educated participant in the future of this world. Students in my classroom love hands on activities but do not have access to many resources to complete projects. Students in my school were given devices throughout the pandemic to attend virtual school. However, many of the devices are no longer working as they were not new and some are sharing devices with their siblings so that everyone has a chance to explore the world beyond the classroom walls.
Due to the rodent infestation in the building all books were destroyed while we were virtual last year.
Having personal devices will allow my students to not lose their love of reading a variety of books. The lego set will enable my students to tap into their creativity and build structures and fix problems. They will be able to create different environments that will expand their horizon of the world beyond New York City.
